After a very successful 2016 (Alexander McCall Smith, Mireille Juchau, Richard Fidler and Tim Winton) we're putting together our program for 2017. We've already held two events, with A C Grayling and Malachy Tallack.
We will be holding several more in the second half of the year. At this stage we have a date for the following event:
Thursday October 12: Richard Flanagan, the Booker Prize winning author will discuss his new novel, First Person, with Steven Lang.
This year we've moved to an on-line booking platform. It makes it easier for you to purchase tickets, you can buy them at any time of day or night. There are no extra fees applicable. Please visit the 'Upcoming Events' page (from the menu at the top) and click on the 'Buy Tickets' button for each event you'd like to attend. If for some reason you have difficulties purchasing tickets over the internet a limited number of tickets are available for cash (only) at both Maleny Bookshop and Rosetta Books. Please note: cash only.
You can sign up to our email list below to receive up to date information. Many of our events sell out. To avoid disappointment please book early.
This is our seventh year. During that time we've held conversations with some forty-nine authors, including A C Grayling, Malachy Tallack, Richard Fidler, Tim Winton, Alexander McCall-Smith, Magda Szubanksi, Tim Flannery, Ruth Ozeki, Thomas Keneally, Ann Patchett, Richard Ford, Patrick Gale, Chad Harbach, Christos Tsiolkas, Ramona Koval, Kate Grenville, Cate Kennedy, Karen Joy Fowler, Graeme Simsion, Henry Reynolds and the former Treasurer and Deputy Prime Minister Wayne Swan. Several of these events were sold out. For a full list of participants please visit Previous Events.
In 2014 we began recording events. An edited version of some of our conversations can be listened to under the 'podcasts' tab in the menu above.
Outspoken operates by selling tickets to our events ($20 for adults, $15 for students unless otherwise stated) We do not receive any external funding. We very much appreciate the help we get from various businesses in town, in particular Maleny Bookshop and Rosetta Books, as well as support with publicity from The Hinterland Times, The Glasshouse Country News and ABC Sunshine Coast FM. And, of course, from you, our audience.
Approximately one month before each event we send out an email with information about the evening, inviting you to book. If you sign up using the form at the bottom of this page we'll put you on the list. We promise not to send you junk mail or to give your address to anyone else.
